Sons of the American Revolution records, 1895-1966.

Records kept by the Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, possibly obtained in multiple accessions.One accession includes annual reports, local and national correspondence, and information on the creation of the General David Humphreys branch. The remainder includes entries from a 1913 high school essay contest, a proposal for the Connecticut Society to secede from the national organization in 1920, meeting minutes (including those from the initial meeting in 1889), addresses given by Society President Jonathan Trumbull, annual congress and banquet proceedings, participation in the New London tercentenary celebration and Nathan Hale Day in 1935, and support for Society member Ernest E. Rogers as he ran for President General in 1927. Much incoming and outgoing correspondence is included in the collection. Among the numerous men who served as officers over the years (up to 1938), the following are well represented within the collection: F. Clarence Bissell, Frederick Bostwick, Lawrence Bostwick, Col. Louis R. Cheney, Howard E. Coe, Charles P. Cooley, Hobart L. Hotchkiss, Harry H. Pritchard, Charles G. Stone, Jonathan Trumbull, Herbert H. White, and Charles B. Whittelsey.
